    About the treatment

Polynucleotides are a revolutionary step in skin rejuvenation. Unlike traditional dermal fillers that add volume, or skin boosters that primarily focus on hydration, polynucleotides are powerful bio-stimulators that work at a cellular level.

These injectable treatments use purified DNA fragments to communicate directly with your skin cells, activating their natural ability to regenerate and heal. By stimulating fibroblast cells, which are responsible for producing collagen and elastin, polynucleotides effectively rebuild your skin’s essential support structure.

As we age, our natural collagen and elastin production decreases, leading to fine lines and a loss of firmness. Polynucleotides counteract this process by promoting tissue regeneration and restoring your skin’s tone and elasticity. The result is a more youthful and healthier complexion.

A course of 2 to 3 sessions is recommended.

    What to expect

First, you will need to make an appointment for a free skin consultation. Your Surrey Hills Skin Clinic Clinician will discuss your aesthetic goals, examine your skin, and confirm that polynucleotides are the right treatment for you. They will also explain the procedure, potential side effects, and aftercare.

During the treatment session the chosen area (e.g., face, neck, under-eyes) will be thoroughly cleansed to remove makeup, dirt, and oils. This is crucial to prevent infection.  A topical numbing cream will likely be applied to the treatment area. This significantly minimises any discomfort from the injections. The cream is left on for 15-30 minutes to take effect.  Your practitioner may mark the injection sites with a washable pen. Polynucleotides are typically injected in a grid-like or fan pattern to ensure even distribution across the target area.  You may feel a slight pinprick or a feeling of pressure as the product is injected, but with the numbing cream, it should be very tolerable.

    Post treatment advice

The practitioner may gently massage the area to help the product disperse evenly and to prevent any small bumps from forming. A cold compress or an ice pack may be applied to the area to reduce any immediate swelling or redness.

Aftercare instructions: You will be given specific aftercare instructions. These typically include:

      • Avoiding makeup for the rest of the day
      • Not touching or rubbing the treated area for a few hours
      • Avoiding strenuous exercise, saunas, and hot baths for 24-48 hours
      • Avoiding alcohol for at least 24 hours
